HDMI out to Sharp LCD TV incompatible message

[ Edited ]

Work in Retail and just sold a customer a Toshiba Laptop with HDMI out and a Sharp 52" Full HD LCD TV. When we hook the two together via HDMI the screens go blank, the TV says Toshiba PC in the area on the screen where it says HDMI but then it comes up with a incompatible device attached message and then the laptops screen returns to the Vista Desktop. Sometimes it stays blank till you disconnect the HDMI cable. The Toshy has a Radeon Graphics chipset. The AMD site has newer drivers so have offered to get them for the customer. Her version is 8.6 whereas the latest drivers are 9.1. Any clues anyone? We can't launch the Catalyst Control Centre on her laptop. So that appears to be screwed. The display properties show only one screen. The TV is not recognised at that point as another possible screen.

Re: HDMI out to Sharp LCD TV incompatible message

I'm curious which Toshiba laptop you're talking about... I have a E105 that connects to my Sharp 52" and 32" via HDMI without any issues.
