Horizontal Lines and Messed up Graphics

Ok, so a week and a half ago i got out of basic training and bought a toshiba satellite l355-s7915 from the local wal-mart so i would have a cheap little laptop to entertain myself with while i was at my AIT (college for the army basically).

Well, the laptop worked fine for the first ohh i'd say, 2 days. Then the LCD Display started to get little white lines going through the middle of the screen. At first it wasn't that bad, maybe 5-6 thin lines spread out over an inch or two of the screen. But now, several days later there are 100's of white lines, and it spans over half the screen. Not only are there white lines, but the part of the screen that does show seems to freeze up every 5-10 seconds and just stops showing an updated image.

Another thing that it's doing now is, every so often the bottom half of the screen (from the lines down) will turn black and not show any image.

Now heres my delima. I WOULD just take the PoS back to walmart where i got it from and either get a new one or get my money back. But, i just so happeto be about 2,000 miles from that walmart and i no longer have the box it came in because i didnt have room to carry the box on the plane with me to my next duty station. And i dont have the reciept anymore. So i'm left to fix the problem on my own.

Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? Whether its the LCD screen going bad, or the video data cable, or what i can do to fix it. Thanks in advanced.

You dont need to go to point of purchase, call the manufacturer ! Your vstill under warranty, and will probably have two options , go to one of their repair shops ,or mail it to them for repair ,period!!!!!

Unfortunately without the reciept he probably won't be able to get it serviced under warranty.  You'll need to contact Toshiba Warranty Support via the Warranty Link at the top of this page to see what they can do for you.

If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

The only time you need a receipt(e before i ! ) is to contest discrepancy from date of walmarts or retailers purchase, from the day it was sold to customer.Toshiba warranty is activated upon selling to retailer, all he has to do is contact Toshiba with serial number, etc.again "period!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Horizontal Lines and Messed up Graphics

I had the same problem with mine and the toshiba depot shipped me a box to send it back to them via ups.  that part was great, the not so great part is that they have had the laptop since sept 16 and have not contacted me about it.  I can follow the status on the depot site, but it has been on 'hold' saying quot required since the 18th.  I hope they dont try to charge me for it!!
