Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

i updated my display driver and ever since i have. my screen flickers for a milisecond, barely notice it, probably 3 times ever minute.

I'm currently running the final beta copy of Windows 7 as OS and started after i installed the windows 7 driver for my model off of the toshiba website.

anyone know what is causing this and/or how to resolve it?

Re: Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

My screen does the same thing. I am pretty sure it is the Nvidia drivers. I had been using a driver that was pretty old, but worked fine. Then I decided to upgrade the driver. The screen flashes started immediately. I re-installed the old driver and the flashes went away.

Unfortunately, to run some of my apps and games I need the newer drivers, so now I am stuck with screen flickers and flashes.

Re: Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

I am having the same issue with my x205-S9800 Vista Home Pre.  Cannot find a working solution with the newer drivers for the life of me.

Thank you for your time,

I am also having this issue with the later Nvidia drivers on Windows 7.  Is there a fix for this?

Re: Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

This was posted in another thread.  I don't know if it will work for you but it's worth a try.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

FYI to anyone with this problem and a 8700M graphics chipset:

On a tip, I tried the 182.46 drivers, downloaded from this site:

http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/23484-forceware-182-46/

This works great.  The drivers are from March 2009, and you have to click through a notification that you're not using Windows Vista.  But that aside, they've been flawless in everything that I've tried today.  (I've only tried this
within Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)

Re: Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

The flicker is gone with that driver.  But I am occasionally getting BSOD crashes.

I am running Win 7 (64 bit).  When will Toshiba post a 64bit driver for 8700M GT?

Re: Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

I have been having this same flickering issue with the drivers since may in Vista and now in Win7 64. I have noticed that the flickering stops when I pull the power cord and run off battery (and if you have an x205 you know they dont last long on battery!)

I have used quite a few different official NVidia drivers as well as the ones from laptopvideo2go and it still happens. Hopefully someone can address this issue (toshiba or NVidia) if they see quite a few of us are having the same problem.

IF the flickering stops when the AC Adaptor is unplugged then there is a very good chance that the AC Adaptor or the jack it plugs into on the mobo is the problem.  It could be an electrical ripple that is out of spec causing interference.  You would need to have that checked out by a service center.  I seriously doubt that a driver would have any affect if this is the case.

Re: Satellite X205-S9359 display flickering

NO its not an AC/ Adapter issue, because mine is perfectly fine and still have the flickering, i am running nvidia's 195.39 drivers for laptops and the flickering is gone, performance isnt improved at all, and now the computer gets BSOD (blue screens of death) every time i shut it down and turn it on. what is possible is that the problem comes from the driver not handling the correct amount of power being directed to the gpu. i wonder when will toshiba or Nvidia will do something about this....
