My family and I all have Toshiba laptops and we think they are wonderful. I'm here in search of information on upgrading my son's A105-S2141 memory, he currently has 512 MB...... I read the specs yesterday, printed them out, went to the store to get the new memory. I know the laptop can go to 2GB's of memory, however it didn't work. The laptop started freezing up and then it became so hot it shut down. I took the two 1GB memory cards out and put the 512MB back in and it's running fine. He also has Windows XP running on his laptop. I bought the PNY so I'm not sure if the brand I bought is the problem or not. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated as my son feels the need for speed....

Toshiba notebooks are 'picky' about the brand memory you use. The PNY memory you bought is incompatible, as you found out. The recommended module for your son's notebook is Kingston KTT533D2/1G. Return the PNY and order the Kingston. NewEgg has the modules:

Or you can buy them wherever you wish. Just be sure they are the exact part number.

THank you! I did just that, returned the PNY and purchased the Kingston. I now have one happy teenager who had the need for speed on his laptop!
