A105-s4384 Windows 7 Upgrade

I am trying to upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7.  When I loaded it as a dual boot (both Beta and RC versions) it worked fine but with an upgrade to my current system is says I need to remove Toshiba Raid drivers.  I can't find any updates (nor can I locate these drivers on the system).  Does anyone know if drivers from other laptops will work?  My serial number is 6 so I don't appear to be supported for the automatic updater.

Thanks

Re: A105-s4384 Windows 7 Upgrade

You are going to need to do some leg work here.  What you need to do is find a newer A105 model that is from the PSAA8U family that has Windows 7 drivers.  Just start checking each of the A105's in the Product Support Link one at a time until you find one that has the driver that you need.  You can look at the Detailed Specs for each model to verify that it is indeed from the PSAA8U family.

You can also check the Intel Support Site to see if they have a Windows 7 Raid Driver for your Intel 945GM chipset.

If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

Thanks very much.  I will see what I can find.  If I do get it to work I will reply back with my findings.

Re: A105-s4384 Windows 7 Upgrade

I was able to do the upgrade.  I first made a folder called Drivers and moved Toshiba Raid Driver into it(KR10N.Sys).  Windows 7 was able to do the upgrade.  The only issue was sound drivers but I went to the Realtek website and downloaded the current drivers for Realtek HD sound.   Everything is running great.  Thanks

Re: A105-s4384 Windows 7 Upgrade

I have a A105-s4334 with serial number 6 and I have the same problem.  I can run Windows 7 on a dual boot, but when I upgrade is says I have to remove Toshiba Raid Driver.   I cannot find the name of the Raid driver on my computer.  Where did you put that folder that you moved the Raid driver to?  Could you walk me through exactly what you did?

Thanks

C:\Windows\System32\drivers

You may need to change a Windows setting to show hidden files and folders. From the taskbar at the top of the folder window, select Organize > Folder and Search Options  and select the View tab on the resulting dialog box and then check off "Show Hidden Files and Folders".

Re: A105-s4384 Windows 7 Upgrade

My model is A105-S4094 with Windows XP and 1.5g of memory. I would like to upgrade OS to Windows 7 as well. Do I need to max out my memory and if so, I'm guessing I could only run 32 bit Windows 7 if it would even work on my laptop? Thanks.

Re: A105-s4384 Windows 7 Upgrade

Thanks for the help. It looks like the update is just scanning the Windows\system32\drivers directory and found that the KR10N.sys file was incompatible.  It did not matter that it was not loaded. By moving that file out of the Windows\system32\drivers directory, my install was able to work.

> cd \Windows\System32\Drivers

> move KR10N.sys \Temp

 (restart the install)
