I have an A505-S6965, did the clean install (that is what was recommended), and don't have PowerCinema afterwards either. I can understand the frustration many of you have with this. I don't understand why many of ya'll are placing the blame on Toshiba entirely. Windows 7 isn't a Toshiba product - it's Microsoft. I took time to research and read several different articles regarding the upgrade to Windows 7. I knew beforehand that some programs/features currently working with Vista (and XP for that matter) would NOT work with 7, until updates from those companies' products were made available. I also know from experience that any time you upgrade anything on a computer, whether it be hardware or software, something will not work like it did before. Before bashing Toshiba for a Microsoft problem, do a little thinking first. Bashing Toshiba won't get you anywhere to resolving this any faster.

I think we're all fully aware that Windows 7 is indeed a Microsoft product, and there also wasn't any bashing AyeCantSeeYou. If you read this thread you'd see the general idea of the problem. Some people, like myself, haven't had the pleasure of using Windows 7 at all.
The very points that this issue brings is why are so many other laptops and computers already upgraded to Windows 7, that are not a Toshiba product? Was it a matter of not being fully prepared?
I'm not saying all Toshiba laptops are having this problem, that's quite inaccurate. But Microsoft isn't entirely to blame for this either. The Toshiba Upgrade Assistant is the program that uninstalled half of my drives and programs on my laptop when according to someone else, it didn't need to. The Toshiba Upgrade Assistant is the program that is preventing me from even installing Windows 7, because of Cyberlink PowerCinema. So I'm stuck with more than 10 things uninstalled and the Assistant refusing to re-install them until I upgrade to Windows 7 which I can't even do because of PowerCinema.
It's quite frustrating and like many others, I'll be very happy once I can start using Windows 7.

I'm having the same exact issue, but the patch available from Toshiba does not apply to my L515-4925S model. Toshiba Upgrade Assistant will not install the CyberLink Power Cinema for Toshiba driver.

I decided I was sick of waiting and that I could care less about Cyberlink Powercinema in anycase.
I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling the TUA and uninstalled Cyberlink from all folders and in the registry as previously suggested above. Upon running the TUA - it still failed at step6 and told me it couldn't do Cyberlink Powercinema.
Forget that - I just went to the WIN32 folder on the install cd and ran the Windows 7 se-up and voila - I am upgraded.
I ran the Microsoft upgrade assistant to ensure nothing else was wonky and everything seem's fine. No outstanding issues, all programs and drivers seem fine.
Do it yourself folks - why wait on the vendor

I am having zero problems today
remember - the only thing it said it couldn't reinstall was theCyberlink Power cinema - it was the only remaining item in the list - everything else was fine.
I've been playing a video game most of the day and doing my usual things without any issues.
Windows 7 appears to have installed perfectly

Vanessa237,
While this problem still has not yet been reproduced, I have a recommendation based on an engineer's educated guess of the condition that could result in the scenario you've described with your Windows 7 upgrade using the Toshiba Upgrade Assistant.
The short version of this theory is that the component being reported by the Fail message in your screenshot is a CyberLink PowerCInema patch, which requires that the PowerCinema software be installed before it can be patched. But if that software has been successfully installed by TUA at any point, that information has been logged and that will prevent it from being installed again by TUA -- even if it has since been uninstalled by running a following iteration of TUA. That wasn't an expected condition so there will be changes made to TUA to avoid this scenario in the future.
For now, as has been suggested by other forum members, this PowerCinema patch is the final step performed by TUA prior to starting the Windows 7 upgrade process and it is safe to go ahead and launch Windows 7 setup from your upgrade media.
After the Windows 7 upgrade is complete you can run "Toshiba Application Installer" to reinstall CyberLink PowerCinema (Click 'Start' --> 'Search' --> and enter "Application" to find and launch that utility). After reinstalling CyberLink PowerCinema, download and install the Windows 7 patch for it before trying to run it under Windows 7. It can be downloaded from http://df.toshiba.com/patch_powercinema_TC00226900
Finally, you can then run TUA again by double-clicking its icon on the Desktop, to install all the other misc. drivers and utilities intended for use by your model under Windows 7.
Please let me know if this takes care of the problem or not.
Thanks,
Jim

I had same issue with Cyberlink PowerCinema. TUA could not uninstall. Called Toshiba Support. Level 1 indicated only option was to do a clean install. I didn't want to do that. Finally spoke to level 2 support who was aware of the issue, problem has been know for 2-3 weeks. Toshiba, Cyberlink, and Microsoft are working on a resolution but no ETA. Level 2 had me try to uninstall from Control Panel/Remove Programs, it failed also. Was told check support website at Toshiba and Microsoft for resolution. I've decided to postpone upgrade for now.

Jim,
Thank you so much! That definitely made it work. Although (as expected) I was missing my volume icon ---among others--- in the taskbar when I installed Windows 7 because of uncompleted installations. I tried to install the Patch for Powerlink Cinema and although I ran into a slight issue regarding something about avast!'s GUI, it seemed to install fine. I ran the TUA afterward as you directed and everything went smoothly. Thanks again. Cheers.
