Hi,

I just got my L455-S5975 laptop with Windows 7 from Best Buy - Can anybody tell me where my installation media would be at?

It's normally on your hard drive in the Recovery Media Partition.    In Vista you went to "Start - All Programs - Toshiba - Recovery - Recovery Disk Creator" to create your own Recovery Media, but it might be different inSe7en (I haven't seen an actual Win 7 Factory Install to know for sure.

All of that should be explained in your USer's Guide that is found on the hard drive in Adobe Acrobat Format.

If I shrank the C drive partition would I lose that recovery media partition?

 No, Mike. You would need to delete those partitions in order to lose them.

You can see them in Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc). This article may be of interest.

Thanks for all the reply - they were all very helpful.

I rebuild from scratch and they backed up to three DVDs using the Toshiba utility mentioned earlier.
