I have a Qosmio X305-X705 and I'm planning on getting Windows 7.
What I'm curious about is all the apps that came with the laptop... will I be able to use them in the Win7 OS?
I did create an Apps & Drivers DVD when I first got the laptop (and I didn't lose it
)
When I instal W7, will it simply be a matter of running that disc or will there be issues? (like them not being authorized for the new install etc.)
Also, what will I need to get the media keys (Play,Stop,Rew, FF etc.) to work or are those covers with generic Windows drivers? I'm guessing it's not generic not generic because of the DOLBY, WebCam, Panel Lights and MEDIA OPEN buttons.
Anything else I should be aware of before I go ahead?
Another thing I'm curious about is the partitions... seeing as I made the recovery discs, should I just delete the partitions to reclaim that space or should I leave it alone?
For what it's worth, I will be getting W7 64bit OEM disc (from newegg) and currently have Vista 64bit installed.
Thanks!!!

Some of the Vista Drivers and Utilities might work, while others won't. What you need to do is go to the Product Support Link at the top of this page and download all of the Windows 7 drivers and Utilities for your specific system. I recommend doing a clean install if possible to get the least problematic installation.
As long as you have created the Recovery Disks (and can find them) you can safely wipe the two recovery partitons out if you want as the Recovery Disks can recreate them if you decide to go back to Vista for some reason.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 are virtually identical so far as applications are concerned. (The former is Windows NT 6.0 and the latter is NT 6.1.) So what runs in Vista will run in W7.
The upgrade procedures are described here.

Well I just finished and, although it may be a bit too early to tell, I think everything went well EXCEPT:
I no longer have Fn Key funtionality.
I think I installed every update... could be wrong as I'm a bit cross-eyed at the moment from sitting here too long
so, any ideads what could be the problem?
FWIW, under TOSHIBA in All Programs I do have a program installed simply called Accessibility with a Fn icon... but it doesn't seem to be of much help.

Nevermind, I see the other threads on the Fn keys now.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
