Windows 7 wakes up from standby while lid is still closed

When I close the lid on my new L455-s5975 laptop (with Windows 7), it goes into standby as it should. But if I happen to move my wireless mouse, the computer wakes up, even though the lid is still closed. I am aware that there is an option under device manager that will make Windows 7 ignore the mouse movement, but if the lid is closed, it should ignore the mouse movement by default (that is the way that my old XP laptop works). Any ideas?

I think it's just a Toshiba Laptop thing.  My new P500 turns on with a closed lid while running Vista.  Why, I do not know?

if I happen to move my wireless mouse, the computer wakes up,

Open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and look for a Power Management tab on the Properties of some device.

Check under Bluetooth Radios, the relevant Bluetooth under Network adapters, and the mouse under Mice and other pointing devices.

You're looking for a setting called

Allow this device to wake the computer

Re: Windows 7 wakes up from standby while lid is still closed

@jerry,

I looked for that option where your said as well as other places... I do not have same on my Windows 7-64 Ultimate on the E105-S1402... Please advise where you are ask us to look.

..

Lastly, are there any options in the bios that need to be addressed to solve this problem?

That would be something to check on the original target user's system

Go to the advanced section of the BIOS and disable wake up on LAN

Yes, check in the BIOS for any wake-up settings.

Jerry - I changed that setting and it does resolve the problem - except that now the mouse won't wake up the computer when the lid is open either. This is certainly better than before, but I suspect there is another problem (or setting) that needs to be addressed. Windows 7 should be smart enough to ignore the mouse movement if the lid is closed, but allow it to work normally (that is - wake up the computer) when the lid is open. Thanks .....

I changed that setting

Exactly where did you find the setting?

Jerry - the path is: control panel>hardware and sound>device manager>mice and other pointing devices>HIDcompliant mouse>power management>allow this device to wake up computer (uncheck)

Satellite L455-S5975

Maybe you have Allow wake timers enabled. Dig down deep into Power Options in Control Panel and set them to Disable. If you have trouble locating them, I can guide you.
