ACPI error when install Windows XP

I have a Toshiba Satellite M40 notebook, when I'm installing windows xp, a blue error window show me that my ACPI can not be compatible with my computer.

I Try to install Windows XP without ACPI support (by pressing F7 to turn it off) but now it is stuck where it says "Setup is starting windows"

I tried many ways of trying to install windows XP and I could not.

The bios has no option to disable it..
Any idea?

I dont have the original recovery CDs but i have a original CD of windows XP Pro.
anyone?

Re: ACPI error when install Windows XP

Save yourself a major headache and call (800) 457-7777 and order replacement recovery disks.  They'll cost $24.95 for standard shipping and will save you a lot of hassle trying to get the retail copy installed.

Re: ACPI error when install Windows XP

The original Windows XP CD does not include the Toshiba specific drivers and utilities.  That includes those associated with Toshiba's ACPI BIOS.  The recovery disks contain the disk image that was shipped from the factory with all of the drivers and utilities already installed.  Using the recovery CDs will rule out any software involvement.  If you have problems after the recovery it is almost certainly a hardware problem.

As I said in my previous post, call (800) 457-7777, Toshiba Customer Service, and order the replacement disks.  They will want the serial number of your computer and a credit card to cover shipping and handling ($24.95 standard, $29.95 overnight).
