RAID problem. Return to separate HDD's

I just installed Vista Ultimate (64-Bit) on my Qosmio G35-AV660.  Problem is it is now seeing both my HDD's as one in a "Logical Drive 0" and "RAID-0" array. Instead of 2-120gb drives I now have one 214gb drive.  I want to return to separate HDD's "C" "D" w/out mirroring, etc.

I have tried booting from the Vista installation disc, and when it asks for raid I install and it still only shows the "one" drive and not separate drives.

I also went into the bios screen at start up and it shows the separate drives with same RAID array, and wasn't able to change it, with the understanding I would lose all data and need to do a new install.

Is the only solution reformatting the drives and a clean install of Vista Ultimate (64-Bit)?

With all the issues I have been encountering with the Vista (64-Bit), and lack of support from Toshiba with such things as the fingerprint utility, Toshiba Value Added Package, etc.,  I am reconsidering returning to Vista Ultimate (32-bit).  Any suggestions?

Re: RAID problem. Return to separate HDD's

Hi xxjnjxx!

You have exactly the oppositve problem that I have; I want to have my HDDs in RAID-0. In order to change between RAIDs, or to eliminate them, you have to insert the DVD that came with your Qosmio. It has the option to change between RAIDs, try downloading the PDF with the user manual from this website, it has all the directions that you have to follow. Now, if you still have the DVD, can you send me a copy of it? I have lost it and I need to change my RAID configurations.

BTW, sorry for my english, is not my native language.

That's how RAID works. You don't want to install it.

try downloading the PDF with the user manual from this website,

See Chapter 6: Using the Toshiba RAID Utility at p. 228 of the User's Guide.
