Yep we will have to see.  So far so good for today.  I haven't been home alot of today and tomorrow I have to get working but I'll be doing my normal morning stuff so hopefully I won't have a problem.

It's TONS better since I did the IE settings reset things and hopefully this will kick the rest of the issue.  I've run all my scans since that program Jerry had me run so we are starting fresh.  All I need is a reboot which I will do soon!

Don't bother with AVG either, especially the Free version.  It doesn't provide REAL TIME Protection and is probably one of the reasons you are having this problem.  Avast Home Free or Avira Free are far superior products that actually provides REAL TIME Protection unlike AVG which only scans when you tell it to.  You'll be MUCH better off.  Running AVG (especially the FREE AVG) is almost as bad as not running any AV at all.

Well I don't know what to tell you, but my AVG provides realtime protection.  It has alerted me in the past when a virus tries to sneak in.  This is not my issue because as I said before, I have 5 computers all running the same software with the expection of the one Acer running XP and it's only the Toshibas having this problem.  My AVG scans for viruses every night and does provide realtime protection.  Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Sorry, but you are wrong on that if it is the FREE version.  It does perform scans once a day, but it doesn't actually scan in REAL TIME.  By Real Time I mean scan every file that you download as you download it, scans every web site as you view it, etc.  That's the biggest drawback to AVG in that unlike Avast Home Free and Avira Free which are PRO-Active and scan these files as you open, download, and view them to prevent them from ever getting onto the system in the first place AVG is only REACTIVE and lets malware onto the system and then tries to remove the malware and undo the damage done AFTER the damage has already been caused.  All in all a very poor way of handling the situation. 

But it's up to you how you want to handle Malware. For me, I prefer to prevent it from every getting on my system to begin with.  Just because I haven't been infected by ANY Malware in my 30+ years of computing doesn't mean I know anything about it though.  I guess I have just been lucky.

I'm not going to argue with you about this, but I'm pretty sure I know what I'm running on my system and what it's doing.  I'm also pretty sure I know what those screens means when my antivirus says that there is something attacking my system.  Whenever I get one of those screens (rare, but it happens) always run all my scans right away and it never finds anything.  I haven't had a problem with any of the software I'm running in the several years I've been running it and like I said, I'm not about to change it.  This isn't a matter of what antivirus I'm running.  As per my several previous posts, this isn't the issue I am having.  While I might not have 30+ years of computing experience, I do have at least 15 up my sleeve so I'm not completely ignorant in my spyware/adware/antivirus issues.  Which is why I chose the software I did.

Besides, I don't believe I ever DID say if I was running the free version.

And yet AVG let three different problems through and it took another AV program to detect them.  Sounds like it's working.

I had this discussion with my GA-Tech EEE Grad School Grad son in August 2009 and we made the FAMILY decision to go with Avast Pro.  I personally got a 3 year license for $55 and I believe it is the best thing I have done in the area other than throw Norton IS overboard. ARRRRR !!!!  ( As in walk the Plank)

You get NN days of Avast Pro for free, so it should not be an issue (or a Brainer) to try it.. Then save you lunch money and put this problem behind you...

Now CEE64 may not want to push you !! BUT I WILL.... I have Seven Children an X-Wife and my afforementioned son and I put down the law on this AVAST PRO issue.  Remember I have FOUR of these Toshiba Satellite E105-S1402 systems and they all run the avast! Professional Edition.   It updates several times a day and scans all the time and take very little resources.

News Flash ( When upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista you do not have to unload avast Pro, it just keeps on working because it figures out that you have switched OS versions).

Ok I only understood half of what you said and really there is no reason to be condescending or sarcastic.  I'm sure you all know how difficult it is to ask a question and have more than one person shouting answers at you.  Not that I'm saying anyone is shouting, but it's difficult for me to understand this stuff when I'm getting advice from three different directions.

So you know what.  I will put the Avast thing aside.  I'm not disregarding it, I'm just putting it aside for later.  I only want to try one thing at a time because if I try several things I will never know what works.  I just did Jerry's Malwarebytes scan.  It hasn't been that long.  I'm not arguing about the AVG anymore cause that's not what I'm here for.  Fine you might be 100% right about the Avast, but I'm not ready to try that yet.  There are two other things I need to try before I get to that.  I'll probably end up with it if it's as good as you say, I'll look into it.

I'm giving this 24 hours (possibly 48 depending on what I have going on tomorrow) and then I'll go to the next step.  Meanwhile I will do my research on this Avast because no matter what, I never try anything without research.

I try to be as thorough as possible for sure.  Basically cause if I don't research and screw something up... oooo, that would just be BAD wouldn't it!

Yes you got my attention for sure and I sure did notice all the links!  *save save save*  As I said, I will probably end up with the Avast, but in time, in time.
