My concern and question before I purchased my Toshiba laptop was "I really need Cisco VPN 32-bit to work on the laptop I buy" I was assured by the Toshiba rep. that the Toshiba A305-S6916 laptap (Vista 64-bit) would still install software that used 32-bit.

Well, it dosen't work I tried installing my VPN 32 bit software and there's an error message. Cisco does not support VPN 64-bit or plan to ...now I have a problem with having Vista 64-bit OS and not able to use the VPN software that is needed.

I don't see any way around that.

The 64-bit versions of Windows will not run any 16-bit program - whether for DOS or for 16-bit Windows. Perhaps that was the context of the conversation?

If a Toshiba rep really led you to believe that 64-bit Vista will always run programs made for 32-bit Vista, you may have a claim there.

Perhaps one of the Toshiba people will stop by and comment.

How about reset to Compatability Mode and see if that helps.  Worth a try. May not resolve as per Jerry's post.

Did you call Toshiba or was it a person in a store that told you this?

Have you thought about using a different VPN?

If it must support this function and you were supplied wrong information, have you tried returning it?

I don't remember the Toshiba rep name I am trying to find the card he gave me. Using another VPN is not an option where I work only uses Cisco which doesn't support 64-bit I really like the Toshiba I brought I just wish I wasn't mislead...
