no bootable device

[ Edited ]

Hi, I have a new satellite L305 laptop (L305-S5962) Vista home premium SP2 that has a reoccurring problem of "no bootable device found".

I updated the BIOS and it still happens.

Once the hard drive is detected it runs fine.

Once you close the lid and leave it overnight I have found the error. If I'm lucky I press F2 and the hard drive shows up-I save/exit and it starts up fine.

I had some malware show up in a scan and removed it.

Antivirus scan shows no problem.

I made a set of recovery disks before the problem began but have not tried to use them.

I also found in device manager that there are problems with:

Microsoft 6 to 4-not working

Teredo tunneling pseudo interface can't start

I let it check online for solution and nothing came back.

Windows update shows no updates available.

If it's really new, I'd return it right away. No point in fooling around with a malfunctioning machine right out of the box.

Well I guess I have to do the tech support route until they have me send it back.I bought it online.

Called tech support-doing a restore to factory settings now.

Let's start over-I'm glad I don't use this for my files I care about!

Thanks

Re: no bootable device

I restored it to out of the box, ran all the updates and the problem seems to have gone away so far.
