i would like to downgrade my satellite a205-s5804 to xp from vista. I think it's just ridiculous that with a computer having twice the harddrive and ram and the same processor speed is running 10 times slower than half that in a laptop wit xp. I wanted to know if there was anything special i would have to do to get xp running on this laptop as far as needing to download drivers and what not or if xp already has the drivers needed cuz i really don't need to be messing this computer up, it's the only one we got lol.

you have to make a slipstream disc, and slipstream in the sata and i believe the video card drivers as well.

I have Same model A205 - S5804 , but when I try to downgrade my lapi from Vista to xp.

the XP cd does not detects the SATA hdd. In some desktops I have changed the SATA mode to IDE emulation in bios and then XP can detect the hdd without any additional drivers.

I would like to know how to change the SATA mode to IDE emulation/ compatible mode in the bios. I have listed the Bios settings of the Laptop
below:
